Ugly & Bright
Updated: Aug 12
One of my favorite things about the Christmas season and having a reason to wear my Ugly Christmas Sweater. My sweater is an elf sweater with a bell on the hood that jingles whenever I walk around. I love seeing all the Ugly Christmas Sweaters that everyone wears during this season. The creativity of some of these sweaters makes me smile every time I think of the work that went into coming up with the wonderfully cooky design.
For my video this week I decided to make two Ugly Christmas Sweater themed cards. I began by using Simon Says Stamp's "Holiday Sweater" stencil. I taped the card panel to the back of the stencil so it would stay in place while I did some ink blending. I used my blending brushes and Distress Oxide Inks (Picked Raspberry, Festive Berries, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Cracked Pistacho and Peacock Feathers). Once I was happy with the blending, I set the panel aside to dry while I stamped and colored the images. I used the "Ugly Sweater" and "Sweater Words and Appliques" stamp sets by Simon Says Stamp. I stamped them in my Mini Misti using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink. I then used a small image from the stamp set to add some coordinating colors to the sweater image. I followed up by coloring the Christmas tree and present images using my Copic Colors. Once the images were colored, I took them to my Scan N Cut and cut them out. I then added some colored gems to the sweater for some additional sparkle. I used some foam tape to add the smaller images to the sweater image. I backed by panel with some black card stock to help the colors pop. I then added the sweater image to the card panel using my AGT gun and some foam tape. Now that my panel was complete, I adhered the panel to the card base using Art Glitter Glue. I'm going to be making several more of these cards...just changing the design of the sweaters for some variety.
